an all time favourite family drama
– JUNGLE BOOK 2 – on 25, 26 and 27 August, 2006, at 7:00 PM, at the St. John’s Auditorium, Koramangala,
Bangalore.
The opening night of the musical would also mark the launch of the William Joseph Music foundation, an NGO that promotes the education and performance of dance, music, and drama.
The play is directed by Dr. Ashley Williams, who has brought together much appreciated musicals like the Sound of Music, Man of La Mancha, West Side Story, My Fair Lady, Fiddler on the
Roof, Orphan Annie, Oliver Twist, etc. The play is choreographed by V. Ganesh.
The Jungle Book can be regarded as a classic story narrated by an adult to children; it also constitutes a complex literary work of art in which the whole of Kipling's philosophy of life is expressed. For the first time, the William Joseph International Academy
is bringing this fascinating story of Mowgli to life on stage.
Mowgli, who misses the jungle and his old friends, runs away from the village, unaware of the danger that awaits him in the wild. The new adventures make him reconsider his decisions and decide which he wants more - a life of laid back hilarity with Baloo in the jungle or a simpler existence in the man village with Shanti.
A Synopsis of the
Play
Mowgli (Eric Saldanha and Subhro Das) feels out of place in his new
home, despite the efforts of his friend Shanti (Rishka Reccani, Shalaka Kurup) and her little brother, Ranjan [Anugraha Krishnan & Nethra George].
So when Baloo [Gavin
Cordeiro], after getting away from Bhageera [Jayanti Bhattacharya] and the Jungle Patrol led by Col. Hati [Nishant Jacob], arrives for a visit, the man-cub takes the opportunity to return for some fun in the jungle.
However, Shanti, believing her friend was taken, follows them, leaving behind her very worried parents [Nishant Jacob and Poorvi
Daxini]
With Shere Khan [Greg
D'Sa] still on the hunt for him, Mowgli must protect himself and the ones he cares about from the dangers ahead, like the ever friendly but sly Kaa [Chris Avinash].
